Lucknow: Preparations for the Centenary Year celebrations of Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, Lucknow—an institution renowned for its pioneering role in the preservation and promotion of Indian classical music, dance and cultural traditions—were reviewed through an extensive on-site inspection by Amrit Abhijat, Principal Secretary (Culture and Tourism), Government of Uttar Pradesh.
The centenary celebrations are scheduled to be held from December 18 to 20, 2025. During the inspection, the Principal Secretary closely examined the proposed main venue, cultural performance stages, guest reception and accommodation arrangements, security measures, sanitation, lighting, traffic management, media coordination and other essential facilities. He also inspected the under-construction historic Parikhana building, reviewed the progress of work and issued necessary directions to ensure timely completion.
Emphasising the importance of the event, the Principal Secretary directed that all preparations be completed with high quality standards and within stipulated timelines to give the centenary celebrations a dignified state and national identity. He said the event would serve as a significant platform not only for the university but also for showcasing Uttar Pradesh’s rich cultural heritage at national and international levels.
On the occasion, University Registrar Dr. Srishti Dhawan briefed the Principal Secretary on the preparations completed so far, the proposed programme framework, formation of various committees, departmental responsibilities and the forthcoming action plan. She reviewed the arrangements with all department heads and staff members, instructing them to ensure coordinated, disciplined and time-bound execution of all tasks related to the celebrations.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mandvi Singh stated that the Centenary Year celebrations are not merely a formal event, but a celebration of the university’s glorious hundred-year journey marked by academic excellence, cultural enrichment and research contributions. She added that the celebrations would provide fresh direction and momentum to future academic policies, research initiatives and cultural programmes, while also playing a vital role in connecting the younger generation with India’s music, dance and cultural values.
The on-site inspection by the Principal Secretary infused a renewed sense of enthusiasm and positive energy among the university administration, faculty and staff. All concerned units are now working with greater commitment and pace to ensure that the centenary celebrations are grand, dignified, well-organised and truly historic, marking a memorable chapter in the legacy of Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya.
