Lucknow: On the auspicious occasion of Founder’s Day at Isabella Thoburn College, the founder of the institution, Isabella Thoburn, was remembered. Whose vision, goals and vision for the future were remembered. Due to which this institution has been able to achieve great heights today.
The program began with paying tribute to the founder and other departed souls at the Nishatganj cemetery. After this, the singing group of the college performed Thoburn’s favorite bhajans in the auditorium. A play based on her life was staged on this occasion.
The special event was attended by the College Chairman, Dr. E.S. Charles, Principal Prof. Panzy Singh, faculty members, special guests, famous alumni and current students.
Thereafter, the distinguished alumni of the institution were honored for their outstanding achievements in their fields.
These included: Prof. Sandhya Roberts, retired teacher, St. Agnes Loreto Day School; Sheila Lawrence, member of Isabella Thoburn College Committee; P. Revis, Past President ITC Society; Prof. Sunita Kumar, Department of Sociology, Nari Shiksha Niketan; Ishita Basu, a renowned academician; Prof. Shaili Malik, Department of Zoology, Lucknow University; Poonam Tiwari, Chief Dietician, Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital; and Mahima Bajpai, Fitness Coach and Entrepreneur.
The esteemed alumni fondly shared their college experiences and appreciated the impact the college has had on their lives. They motivated the current students to live their lives in accordance with the college motto ‘We receive to give’, and urged them to give back to the society what they have received in abundance from the college.
Prof. Panzy Singh addressed the students and paid tribute to Isabella Thoburn by quoting an excerpt from the book and message written on the college founder Miss Isabella Thoburn and expressed her views. President Dr. E.S. Charles paid emotional tribute to the event by offering prayers and some heart touching words and thanked everyone for the successful event.
