Lucknow: In a bid to empower adolescent girls and women with employable skills, the Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS), Lucknow, under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, has launched a 240-hour Assistant Dressmaker Training Program at Prerna Girls School.
The initiative was formally inaugurated in the presence of Manoj Chaurasia, Deputy Commissioner of the District Industries and Enterprise Promotion Centre, who served as the chief guest. He urged the young women to take full advantage of the CM Yuva Udyami Vikas Yojana, a government scheme offering collateral-free and interest-free loans up to ₹5 lakh to budding entrepreneurs.
Chaurasia noted that the scheme is showing promising results and is instrumental in fostering a spirit of self-reliance among youth. Anil Kumar Srivastava, Director of Jan Shikshan Sansthan, informed that the participants will be trained in quality garment-making techniques and will receive certification through the Government of India’s Skill India Digital Hub (SIDDHI) portal, enhancing their employability and self-sufficiency.

Speaking at the event, Anandi Agrawal, Head of the Women’s Cell at the Indian Industries Association (IIA), emphasized that women are the backbone of the Indian economy and play a critical role in the Viksit Bharat (Developed India) campaign.
Mukesh Jain, District Governor of Lions Club International, encouraged the girls and announced that the club will soon organize health camps for them.
The event was coordinated by Pratibha Balian, head of the Virtues Welfare Society and collaborator with JSS, while Pannalal, Programme Officer at JSS, managed event arrangements.
Rakhi Panjwani, Principal of Prerna Girls School, welcomed the guests and shared insights about the school’s various activities. Around 50 people attended the programme, which marked a significant step toward skill-based empowerment of young women in the region.
