Power Cuts Spark Anger, Akhilesh Yadav Slams BJP Government

Akhilesh Yadav

Lucknow — Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav has sharply criticized the BJP-led state government over the worsening power crisis, alleging that unscheduled electricity cuts across the state have left citizens helpless and the government without answers.

In a strongly worded statement, Yadav said that the BJP regime has failed to improve electricity production, transmission, or distribution during its tenure. “The situation is chaotic. There is rampant, unannounced power outage across the state,” he said. He highlighted how the crisis has worsened during the critical paddy transplantation season, with farmers being denied timely electricity, and rural areas facing severe power shortages.

Yadav further alleged that the BJP’s intention is to privatize the power sector, eventually burdening the public with inflated bills from private companies. “The BJP appointed a Power Minister not to reform the sector, but to sell it off to its close associates,” he remarked.

Referring to the achievements of the previous Samajwadi Party government, Yadav pointed out that power plants were set up in districts like Etah, Kanpur Dehat, Lalitpur, and Panki, but the BJP government has not expanded or enhanced electricity production since coming to power.

In a separate message, Akhilesh Yadav extended his greetings to the people of India on the sacred occasion of the Sawan month. He emphasized the spiritual significance of this period, dedicated to Lord Shiva, and wished that all devotees find fulfillment in their prayers and offerings.

As public frustration over power outages continues to grow, the Samajwadi Party’s criticism adds to the mounting pressure on the state government to respond effectively and transparently to the crisis.
