Kyiv: Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi in Kyiv, Ukraine. PM Modi and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy honoured the Memory of Children at the Martyrologists exhibition at the Ukraine National Museum in Kyiv.
The Gandhi statue is a symbol of Mahatma Gandhi’s enduring legacy and his principles of peace and non-violence. The bronze statue of the Mahatma at the AV Fomin Botanical Garden was unveiled in 2020 on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s 151st birth anniversary. The Memory of Children honours children whose lives were taken in the full-scale Russian invasion.
The Ukraine Museum exhibition presents documents and artefacts from the largest military conflicts of the 20th and 21st centuries and highlights the heroic struggle of Ukrainians for their freedom, independence and cultural identity. After this, PM Modi will visit the Mariinsky Palace, where he will be welcomed by Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
After this, there will be a restricted meeting between the two leaders to discuss key issues. This will be followed by high-level delegation meetings, where important discussions are expected to take place on bilateral cooperation. Documents will be exchanged to formalise agreements and cooperation between the two countries.
