Govardhan: Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the newly redeveloped Govardhan Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme on Thursday. The station, developed at a cost of approximately ₹16.34 crore, has been equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to provide a modern and comfortable experience for passengers.
As part of the celebrations, winners of various art, essay, and speech competitions held across schools were honoured during the event. Among them, Anya Sharma, a student of Vatsalya Public School, won first prize in the art competition for her remarkable painting on ‘Operation Sindoor’. She was felicitated with a certificate of appreciation by Rajya Sabha MP Chaudhary Tejveer Singh and local MLA Thakur Meghshyam Singh.
During the inauguration program, MP Tejveer Singh briefed the gathering about the enhanced amenities at the station. He said the redeveloped Govardhan station will provide a new and improved travel experience for all passengers. The facility includes a 3,800 square meter parking area and a 5,134 square meter platform.
To shield commuters from rain and harsh sun, a 2,520 square meter platform shelter has been constructed. A 12-meter-wide foot overbridge has also been built to help passengers move easily between platforms. The waiting lounge has been significantly expanded to accommodate more travellers.

MLA Thakur Meghshyam Singh added that special attention has been given to divyang (differently-abled) passengers, with provisions like ramps, accessible toilets, and dedicated ticket counters.
The event also witnessed the presence of prominent local leaders and public representatives including MP Representative Janardan Sharma, Govardhan Chairperson Prabha Sharma, Radhakund Chairperson Ramphal Munshi, Manish Lambardar, Jugal Patel, Gyanendra Rana, Hemant Sharma, Kapil Seth, Kanha Sharma, and RLD District President Rajpal Bharanga.
The newly developed station is expected to play a vital role in improving infrastructure and tourism in the historic town of Govardhan, a major pilgrimage centre.
