New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Canadian leader Mark Carney on his Liberal Party’s election victory. Modi expressed his enthusiasm for fostering greater opportunities for the citizens of both India and Canada.
Carney’s Liberal Party secured a historic win in the Canadian elections.
“Congratulations @MarkJCarney on your election as the Prime Minister of Canada and to the Liberal Party on their victory,” Modi tweeted.
“India and Canada are bound by shared democratic values, a steadfast commitment to the rule of law, and vibrant people-to-people ties,” he stated.
“I look forward to working with you to strengthen our partnership and unlock greater opportunities for our people,” Modi added.
The relationship between India and Canada had been significantly strained under the previous administration of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
