Philips to Illuminate 100 Border Villages in Uttar Pradesh Under ‘Har Gao Roshan’ Initiative

Lucknow: In a significant step towards strengthening border security and enhancing rural safety, Polish Philips has announced a major Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative to illuminate 100 villages along the India–Nepal border in Uttar Pradesh. The project, titled ‘Har Gao Roshan’, will focus on villages in the Gorakhpur division, particularly in the Gorakhpur and Maharajganj districts.

The initiative aims to install modern, high-quality lighting infrastructure across strategically important border villages. Improved night-time illumination is expected to assist border security forces by enhancing visibility in sensitive areas, while simultaneously improving public safety and security for local residents.

As part of the programme, street lights will be installed at identified dark spots within villages, addressing long-standing safety concerns. The project places special emphasis on women’s safety, reduction of road accidents, and creation of a more secure environment in rural and border regions.

Renowned corporate strategist Hasan Yaqoob, who has played a key role in advancing the initiative, said the project reflects a commitment to empowering communities in Uttar Pradesh while contributing to national security objectives. The programme is being implemented in association with the TARQ Foundation, ensuring structured execution and community-level engagement.

The initiative has received strong encouragement from Union Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh, who appreciated the effort and extended his support to the project. Senior stakeholders, including Neeraj Singh, have also backed the programme, recognising its importance in improving safety infrastructure in border areas.

The Har Gao Roshan initiative underscores how targeted CSR interventions can play a vital role in strengthening border regions, improving quality of life in rural areas, and supporting the broader goals of safety, security, and sustainable development.
