Percussion Round Held on Day Two of UP Sangeet Natak Akademi’s Regional Music Competition Kathak Dance Event Scheduled for December 3

Lucknow: The first phase of the Uttar Pradesh Sangeet Natak Akademi’s Regional Music Competition is underway at the Sant Gadgeji Auditorium, running from December 1 to 3. On Tuesday, December 2, the spotlight was on the avanaddh vadya (percussion) segment, featuring tabla and pakhawaj. Participants who had secured top positions at the divisional level competed with great skill and enthusiasm.

The first phase will conclude on December 3 with the Kathak dance competition. The second phase—dedicated to vocal music—will be held from December 8 to 11.

During the inaugural session of the event, Akademi Chairperson Prof. Jayant Khot, Vice-Chairperson Vibha Singh and Director Dr. Shobhit Kumar Nahar, along with invited judges Praveen Kumar Dubey from Delhi and Ganesh Gupta from Lucknow, jointly lit the ceremonial lamp. The judges were also felicitated with ceremonial stoles.

Organised under the coordination of Renu Srivastava, the competition is being conducted with stage management by Rajendra Vishwakarma.
