Uplifting cultural event held at Pioneer Convent School, Indira Nagar, in collaboration with UP’s Department of Culture
Lucknow — The Lucknow Communication Society, in association with the Department of Culture, Government of Uttar Pradesh, organized a stirring patriotic programme on Kargil Vijay Diwas and the martyrdom day of Sardar Udham Singh at Pioneer Convent School, located in Mayur Residency, Chandan Road, Indira Nagar. The event, held on Sunday, July 27, featured a vibrant line-up of cultural performances under the coordination of Vijay Laxmi Gupta.
The school auditorium echoed with patriotic melodies and powerful performances, drawing emotional responses and applause from the audience. A special performance troupe led by Geeta Gupta captivated the crowd with soul-stirring renditions of beloved nationalistic songs.
Addressing the gathering, R.C. Gupta shared a poignant tribute to Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Udham Singh, recounting his revolutionary life. “Born on December 26, 1899, in a Sikh family in Sunam, Punjab, Udham Singh, originally named Sher Singh, is remembered for avenging the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre by assassinating former Punjab Lieutenant Governor Michael O’Dwyer in London on March 13, 1940. He was tried and hanged in July 1940 for his actions,” Gupta narrated, evoking pride and solemnity in the audience.
The cultural segment featured a variety of patriotic songs performed by the Geeta Gupta Mandali, including artists Shailendra Gupta, Prakash Khanna, Ankit Singh, Sanjay Srivastava, R.G. Gupta, Subodh Dubey, Arjun Kumar, Mahendra Pratap Singh, Shubh, and Aryan Gupta.

Among the standout performances were:
“Chhodo Kal Ki Baatein, Kal Ki Baat Purani” – a message of unity and forward-looking nationalism that received widespread appreciation.
The melodious “Koyal Bin Bagiya Na Sohe Raja” enthralled the audience with its artistic presentation.
The iconic “Jahan Daal-Daal Par Sone Ki Chidiya Karti Hai Basera, Woh Bharat Desh Hai Mera” left an emotional impact.
A rousing poem on patriotism presented by Mahesh was met with heartfelt applause.
Shailendra’s rendition of “Sare Jahan Se Achha Hindustan Hamara” and Aryan Gupta’s soulful “Mitwa” received enthusiastic ovations.
School Principal Shiv Pal Singh, along with Neeshu Tyagi, Dabir Siddiqui, Rahul Sharma, Neera Lohani, and other dignitaries, attended the event, commending the performers and the organizers for creating an atmosphere of national pride.
The event stood as a heartfelt tribute to India’s brave soldiers and freedom fighters, combining cultural richness with patriotic spirit, and reminding all present of the sacrifices that laid the foundation of India’s freedom and security.
