Lucknow: The Parvatiya Mahaparishad celebrated the 138th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant, a renowned freedom fighter and the first Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. The occasion also marked the birth anniversary of Girish Chandra Tiwari “Girda,” a prominent poet and social activist from the Kumaon region.
Office bearers of the Parvatiya Mahaparishad paid floral tributes at the statue of Bharat Ratna Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant on Vidhan Sabha Marg. The attendees included President Ganesh Chandra Joshi, General Secretary Mahendra Singh Rawat, and several other office bearers.
Following this, at the Bharat Ratna Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant Parvatiya Sanskritik Upvan on Birbal Sahni Marg, members and officials of the Mahaparishad offered floral tributes to both great personalities and shared their thoughts.

On this occasion, President Ganesh Chandra Joshi highlighted Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant’s life, stating that the nation will always remember his struggles during the freedom movement. He added, “We are proud that he was honored with the country’s highest award, the Bharat Ratna, for his exceptional services.”

General Secretary Mahendra Singh Rawat noted that Pt. Pant is credited with being the first to provide free and compulsory education in Kumaon. Convener K.N. Chandola shed light on the life of Girish Tiwari “Girda,” saying that his poems powerfully expressed the suffering of the common people, which is why he was called the “people’s poet” of Uttarakhand.
