Over 2,300 Atal Residential School Students to Appear for Class 10 Board Exams for the First Time

Lucknow— For the first time, more than 2,300 students from 18 Atal Residential Schools in Uttar Pradesh will appear for the Class 10 board examinations this year. This landmark moment was the focus of a special preparation meeting held on Thursday at Bapu Bhavan, Lucknow.

The Atal Residential School scheme is part of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision to provide free, quality, CBSE-based education to children of labour families. Built at a cost of ₹1,267.45 crore across 18 revenue divisions, these modern residential schools are run by the Uttar Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.

Government’s Commitment to Quality Education for Workers’ Children
Labour and Employment Minister Anil Rajbhar, who chaired the meeting, said,

“These schools are bringing a new light of education to the children of the working class. The government wants their first board exam results to set an example not only for the state but for the entire country.”

  • Achieving 100% board exam results
  • Separate strategies for weaker and high-achieving students
  • Preparation in line with the latest CBSE exam pattern
  • Mock tests and subject-wise performance analysis
  • Target of 4–5 students from each school making it to the state/CBSE topper lists

Merut Leads in Mock Test
In the July Mock Test-2, Atal Residential School, Meerut, secured the top spot with a 98% pass rate. Principal Amar Kaur credited extra remedial classes and peer learning groups for the improved performance.

Instructions from Senior Officials

  • Solve CBSE question papers from the last 5 years
  • Regular remedial classes for weaker students
  • Assign each teacher as a mentor for small student groups
  • Start revision tests from December
  • Conduct objective-type tests twice a month
  • Micro-planning for average and weak students
  • Focus on conceptual learning

Future Strategy

  • Continuous monitoring through mock tests, revisions, and pre-boards
  • Improving answer sheet presentation
  • Workshops on time management and exam techniques
  • Teacher-student mentorship programs
  • Cleanliness drives, tree plantation, and parental engagement initiatives

At the close of the meeting, all principals pledged that “no child will be left behind.” Director General Pooja Yadav thanked all attendees, reinforcing the goal of delivering 100% results in this historic first board exam for Atal Residential School students.
