Lucknow: In observance of World Blood Donor Day, Apollo Hospital, Lucknow organized a large-scale blood donation camp, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from the public. The camp was formally inaugurated by Dr. A.K. Sehgal, Additional Chief Medical Officer (ACMO), Lucknow.
The initiative drew more than 100 voluntary donors, who stepped forward to contribute to this noble cause.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Mayank Somani, MD and CEO of Apollo Hospital, emphasized the critical role of blood donation in saving lives. He said, “Blood donation is a direct and powerful way to save lives. It does not weaken the body in any way. Any healthy individual between the ages of 18 and 65, weighing more than 50 kg, can donate blood safely.”
He further added, “We take immense pride in seeing the overwhelming support from the community. Such participation reflects a growing awareness about the importance of donating blood and the spirit of service among citizens.”
The camp was part of Apollo Hospital’s ongoing efforts to promote healthcare awareness and encourage voluntary blood donation as a life-saving act. The hospital also ensured that all safety protocols and hygiene standards were strictly followed during the drive.
The successful event not only helped in replenishing local blood banks but also reinforced the message that voluntary blood donation is a vital act of humanity.
