Lucknow— On the occasion of India’s 79th Independence Day, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath hoisted the national flag at his official residence in Lucknow, extending heartfelt greetings to the people of the state. He paid solemn tribute to the great heroes of the freedom struggle who freed the nation from centuries of colonial rule, describing independence as the result of the sacrifices, dedication, and struggles of Mahatma Gandhi and countless revolutionaries who united the country from north to south and east to west.
In his address, CM Yogi also paid homage to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, the architect of the Indian Constitution Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, and other freedom fighters. He said Independence Day is not merely a celebration but an occasion to reaffirm national duties and commitments. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India is moving rapidly towards the vision of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India), he said, noting that the Constitution has played a vital role in upholding unity, social justice, fraternity, and equality even in challenging times.

Praises Operation Sindoor and Indigenous Defence Strength
Highlighting the recent Operation Sindoor, CM Yogi lauded the bravery of the Indian Army and the power of indigenous weapons, including missiles and drones. He said the operation is a symbol of India’s self-reliance and strength. He also pointed to Uttar Pradesh’s One District, One Product initiative, which promotes local production, branding, market linkage, and innovation in design, technology, and packaging, taking products not only across India but to global markets—aligning with the Prime Minister’s Vocal for Local mission.

Self-Reliance as a National Resolve
The Chief Minister urged that embracing indigenous products and practices should become a part of everyday life and a core Independence Day pledge. He also commended the role of civil police and other security agencies in strengthening internal security.
CM Yogi concluded by saying that Independence Day is a moment to express gratitude to the martyrs and to draw inspiration for building a self-reliant India. He called upon every citizen of Uttar Pradesh to commit to their duties and work together to realise the dream of a developed nation.
