Operation Langda: UP Police’s Crackdown on Criminals Intensifies Across the State

Lucknow – In a state-wide offensive against crime, Uttar Pradesh Police’s ongoing initiative “Operation Langda” is proving to be a formidable clampdown on hardened criminals and history-sheeters. A series of high-intensity encounters across districts like Lucknow, Ballia, Ghaziabad, Agra, Unnao, Baghpat, Jalaun, and Firozabad has led to the arrest of several notorious offenders, many of whom were injured during shootouts.

Loud and Clear: Zero Tolerance for Crime

Under the aggressive direction of the state’s law enforcement, Operation Langda has seen multiple armed confrontations wherein criminals opened fire at police teams and were subsequently shot in the legs — a hallmark of this crackdown. Weapons, ammunition, and stolen property have been recovered from the accused, who are said to be part of organized criminal networks.

Lucknow: Rapist Shot and Nabbed

In Madeyganj, Kamal Kishore alias Bhaddar, wanted for the recent rape of a four-year-old girl, was intercepted by the police. During the chase, the accused fired at officers but was eventually shot in the leg and apprehended.

Ballia: Two Encounters, Two Criminals Wounded

Ballia police were involved in two separate encounters after midnight. In one incident at Jagannath Tiraha, suspects fleeing a checkpoint fired at police, leading to one being shot in the right leg. His accomplices escaped in the darkness. A second encounter occurred near Maldepur crossing, where another suspect was injured in his left leg while trying to flee.

Agra: Notorious Thief Suraj Injured

In Dauki area, repeat offender Suraj was shot and arrested during a police encounter following a spate of thefts. He confessed to multiple theft and robbery cases. Authorities seized a country-made pistol and stolen goods.

Ghaziabad: History-Sheeter Caught in Constable Murder Case

The most high-profile arrest came from Ghaziabad, where Abdul Rahman, a history-sheeter linked to Constable Saurabh’s murder, was nabbed after an encounter near Masuri Lake. He was shot in the leg while attempting to flee.

Unnao: Absconder Nabbed

In Bihar police station area, Sanjay alias Teni, who was wanted for firing at civilians, was injured during a shootout and caught. A firearm and cartridges were recovered from him.

Baghpat: Chain Snatchers Taken Down

In Binauli, two chain snatchers — active in several cases — were arrested. One was shot in the leg during a jungle encounter, and another was captured during a police cordon.

Jalaun: Jewelry Robbers Face Police Heat

A late-night operation in Jalaun saw two jewelry store robbers, Ajay alias Golu Kushwaha and Ramu, cornered by the police. Ajay was shot in the leg, while Ramu surrendered. Both were involved in a recent high-profile heist in Konch.

Firozabad: Double Murder Accused Captured

Firozabad police arrested Manish Yadav and Vipin Yadav, both wanted for a brutal double murder of a father and son. Each had a bounty of ₹20,000 on their heads. Two country-made pistols and live cartridges were seized.

Weapons Seized, Search for Others Continues

According to police sources, the seized firearms and confessions reveal deep-rooted criminal operations. Many of the accused have long criminal histories under IPC Sections 302, 307, and the Gangsters Act. The police are intensifying search operations to nab the absconding accomplices and have appealed to the public for support.

“Operation Langda” — named after the practice of shooting fleeing criminals in the leg — is being hailed as a tough and tactical move by UP Police to reclaim control in crime-affected areas. With the rising number of arrests and recoveries, the message is clear: crime has no place in Yogi Adityanath’s Uttar Pradesh.
