Lucknow : Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati paid floral tributes to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on his birth anniversary on Monday, reaffirming her party’s commitment to his ideals. Taking to social media platform X, the BSP commemorated the occasion with a series of posts dedicated to the Constitution maker, Bharat Ratna Bodhisattva Dr. Ambedkar.
“On the occasion of his birth anniversary, the Ambedkarite party BSP paid heartfelt respects, garlanded his statues and offered floral tributes to the revered Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar across the country. We extend heartfelt thanks to all those who participated,” the party wrote.
In her statement, Mayawati emphasized the need for Dalits, Adivasis, backward classes, and other marginalized groups to adopt Ambedkarite principles to truly uplift their condition. “To escape oppression, injustice, and discrimination, these communities must unite and become part of the ruling class. The power to rule lies in their unity and in embracing the Ambedkarite path,” she said.
The BSP chief sharply criticized both the BJP and Congress governments for what she described as the continued neglect of the socio-economic and political conditions of the Bahujan community. “Like during Congress rule, the condition of Bahujans under BJP governance remains extremely dismal. The systematic erosion of their constitutional rights, including reservation, has led to worsening circumstances—far from the so-called ‘achhe din’ (better days),” she remarked.
Calling the situation distressing and deeply concerning, Mayawati reiterated that only through awareness, unity, and political empowerment can historically disadvantaged communities achieve the vision of equality that Dr. Ambedkar envisioned.
Her remarks come at a time when reservation policies, social justice, and political representation are increasingly being debated in the national discourse. The BSP has long championed the cause of Dalit and backward caste empowerment, aligning itself with Ambedkar’s legacy of social reform and constitutional justice.
