Obsessed Student Kills Father of Girl He Loved After Her Marriage Was Fixed in Greater Noida

Gautam Buddh Nagar | In a shocking case of one-sided love turning fatal, a pharmacy student allegedly shot dead the father of a girl he was infatuated with after learning that her marriage had been fixed. Police in Greater Noida’s Badalpur area have cracked the three-day-old murder case and arrested the accused, identified as Deepak Goswami, a resident of Surajpur’s Mahamedha Gali and originally from Rohata Meerpur village in Meerut.

According to DCP Central Noida Shakti Mohan Awasthi, the incident came to light on October 31, when Dial 112 received information about an injured man lying by the roadside in a pool of blood. Police rushed to the spot and took the victim to a hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. The deceased was identified as Mahipal Singh, a property dealer from Bambawad village in Dadri. His brother later lodged a complaint against an unidentified person, prompting the registration of a murder case.

Given the gravity of the incident, six police teams were constituted to investigate the murder. Over 50 CCTV footage clips were examined, and with the help of local intelligence, the police were able to track down the accused within three days. Acting on a tip-off, a police team arrested Deepak Goswami from near Dhoom Bypass Underpass on Sunday.

Love, Rejection, and Revenge

During interrogation, Deepak made startling revelations. A third-year B. Pharma student, he also worked as a Medical Representative at Grid Pharma Company in Greater Noida’s Gamma-1 and Kadamba Market areas, earning around ₹20,000–30,000 a month. His acquaintance with Mahipal’s younger daughter began through Instagram in 2022, which gradually turned into deep affection on his part. However, both Mahipal and his daughter rejected his proposal for marriage.

A few months ago, Mahipal arranged marriages for both his daughters, with the wedding scheduled for December 10, 2025. Upon learning this, Deepak became furious and reportedly threatened Mahipal with dire consequences. Although Mahipal had informed his family about the threat, they refrained from filing a police complaint to avoid social embarrassment.

The Crime Was Planned for Weeks

Investigations revealed that Deepak had been tracking Mahipal’s movements for over a month. Under the guise of pharmaceutical marketing, he frequented areas like Tilpata, Kherpura, Vedpura, Bambawad, Sadullapur, and Dadri, observing Mahipal’s routine closely. He often lingered for hours near local shops, pretending to smoke, while secretly watching the family’s movements.

On the day of the murder, Deepak found Mahipal alone in a deserted area and shot him at close range with a pistol. To delay identification and mislead police, he took away the victim’s mobile phone from the scene.

Police have recovered the murder weapon (a pistol), three live cartridges, two mobile phones, and a motorcycle from the accused. The weapon has been sent for forensic examination.

Judicial Custody

The accused was produced before the court on Sunday, which remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody. DCP Awasthi said the case highlights how obsession and emotional instability can drive educated youth to extreme acts of violence.

Police sources added that further investigation is underway to determine whether anyone else was aware of or aided in the crime.

“It was a meticulously planned murder, driven purely by rejection and revenge,” a senior officer said.
“The accused mistook obsession for love — and destroyed two families in the process.”
