Ayodhya: In a heartfelt tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of the Dogra Regiment’s 10th Battalion, Northern Railway has launched a special train named ‘Dogra’. The train has been dedicated in the memory of the battalion’s valiant soldiers, particularly martyr Dera Baba Nanak, who laid down his life during the 1971 India-Pakistan war.

The locomotive of the train proudly bears the emblem of the 10th Battalion of the Dogra Regiment, symbolising honour and pride for their contributions in one of India’s most significant military victories.

The special train was flagged off on Friday from Ayodhya by Brigadier Kunwar Ranjeev Singh of the Dogra Regimental Centre, amidst a ceremonial military band performance that evoked a sense of patriotism and reverence.

The Dogra Regiment’s 10th Battalion played a pivotal role in the 1971 war, particularly in operations that contributed to India’s triumph. Among those who gave the ultimate sacrifice was soldier Dera Baba Nanak, whose name will now live on through this symbolic tribute.

Northern Railway’s initiative not only commemorates the heroism of the Dogra soldiers but also strengthens the bond between India’s armed forces and its people, bringing their stories of courage to the heart of public consciousness.
