No Fuel Shortage in Uttar Pradesh, Supply Normal: Government Dismisses Rumours

Lucknow: Amid widespread chatter on social media about a possible shortage of petrol and diesel in Uttar Pradesh, the state government on Thursday categorically denied the claims, assuring citizens that fuel supply across the state remains completely normal.

Clarifying the situation, Principal Secretary (Food and Civil Supplies) Ranveer Prasad stated that adequate availability of petrol and diesel has been ensured in all districts in line with demand. He emphasized that continuous coordination with oil companies is being maintained to prevent any disruption in supply.

The government urged citizens not to panic or indulge in unnecessary bulk purchasing of fuel based on misleading information circulating online. Officials noted that certain anti-social elements have deliberately spread false rumours of a fuel crisis, creating confusion among the public. Authorities have warned that strict action will be taken against those found responsible for spreading such misinformation.

To maintain smooth distribution, the state government has directed all district magistrates and concerned officials to closely monitor the functioning of petrol pumps and ensure timely replenishment wherever required.

The administration also cautioned that panic buying and hoarding can put undue pressure on the supply chain, potentially leading to artificial shortages. Citizens have therefore been advised to purchase fuel only as per their immediate needs.

Echoing the government’s stance, Sarvesh Vajpayee, a member of the Lucknow Petrol Dealers Association and owner of SR Filling Station, confirmed that petrol pumps are operating round the clock and sufficient fuel stocks are available. He reassured the public that there is no cause for concern.

Reiterating its commitment, the state government said ensuring the uninterrupted availability of essential commodities remains its top priority, and the fuel supply situation in Uttar Pradesh is fully under control. Citizens have once again been appealed to avoid rumours and cooperate with the administration.
