No FIR for commercial use of domestic electricity

Lucknow: If commercial use of electricity is found during investigation of domestic electricity consumers, then FIR will not be registered. A fine will be charged from them. This rule will be applicable to consumers having 1 to 5 kilowatts. Managing Director of Madhyanchal Corporation Bhawani Singh Khangarot has issued an order in this regard . The system has come into effect with immediate effect in all the 19 districts falling under the purview of the corporation.

The Managing Director said that this relief has been given to domestic consumers as per the Electricity (Removal of Difficulties) First Order 2009 issued by the Electricity Regulatory Commission. If during investigation partial use of the premises of domestic consumers having approved load of 5 kilowatts or less is found for commercial activities, then a notice will be issued with a fine. FIR will not be registered directly. Till now FIR was registered in such cases. The new system will provide relief to 13 lakh consumers of the capital.

Rules effective in these districts of Awadh

Apart from these districts of Awadh including Lucknow, Sitapur, Shravasti, Balrampur, Gonda, Barabanki, Rae Bareli, Ayodhya, Sultanpur, Ambedkarnagar, Amethi, this system has become effective in all the 19 districts coming under the purview of the corporation. At the same time, if meter bypass, tamper or any other metering related problem is found in the investigation, then an FIR will be registered.

This is how the fine will be imposed

A fine of five thousand rupees will be imposed for commercial use on a domestic connection of one kilowatt. A fine of 10 thousand rupees will be charged on a commercial connection of one kilowatt. At the same time, a fine of 50 thousand will be imposed on five kilowatt.
