- Health and Medical Education Departments directed to remain on alert mode
- CM urges early preparedness for seasonal diseases like dengue, malaria, and kala-azar
Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the state’s Covid-19 situation in light of the global spread of the new subvariant JN.1 and assured citizens that there is no reason for concern at the moment. However, he stressed the importance of continued vigilance and preparedness considering international developments.
“Currently, there is no alarming Covid-related situation in the state. Still, keeping in mind the global circumstances, we must remain alert and cautious,” said the Chief Minister during a high-level meeting with health officials and senior government authorities.
CM Yogi clarified that the Government of India has not issued any fresh advisory related to Covid-19. However, he pointed to the increase in cases in countries like Thailand, Singapore, and Hong Kong due to the JN.1 subvariant, stating that continuous surveillance in Uttar Pradesh is essential. He instructed all government hospitals, medical colleges, and health units to stay in “alert mode” and ensure readiness to respond swiftly to any potential emergency.

He further directed authorities to maintain the functionality of critical infrastructure established during previous Covid waves. “ICU beds, ventilators, and oxygen plants created at district hospitals must remain operational. Their systems should be regularly tested and properly maintained,” he said.

Highlighting the key role of frontline health workers during previous waves, CM Yogi emphasized that their skills should be enhanced through training for broader use in the healthcare system.

Turning attention to other public health concerns, the Chief Minister also instructed departments to begin early preparations for combating vector-borne and seasonal diseases. “Preventive steps against dengue, malaria, and kala-azar must begin immediately,” he stated, urging close coordination among the Health Department, Medical Education Department, and local administrations.
CM Yogi concluded the review meeting by affirming the state’s comprehensive readiness to tackle any health crisis. “The state’s health system is fully alert, capable, and committed to handling all possible health challenges, including Covid-19,” he asserted.
