Lucknow: The Government National Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital (NHMC), Lucknow convened a special meeting of its Ethical Committee to review and approve research proposals of postgraduate students. The session was chaired by Dr. Girish Gupta, Chairman of the committee and Chief Consultant at Gaurang Clinic and Centre for Homoeopathic Research, Aliganj.
Before the meeting, Dr. Gupta inspected the college facilities, noting the significant rise in patient inflow in both OPD and IPD. He highlighted the availability of modern services including dental, ophthalmology, physiotherapy, dietetics, pathology, X-ray, and ECG, calling them a mark of growing patient trust. Expressing pride as an alumnus, he lauded the steady progress under Principal Prof. (Dr.) Vijay Kumar Pushkar, who is steering the college in line with government directives.
Prof. Pushkar welcomed members and emphasized that research quality and ethical values are the cornerstones of the institution. He reaffirmed the commitment to transform NHMC into a national leader in research, academics, and patient care, aligning with the vision of CM Yogi Adityanath and AYUSH Minister Dayashankar Mishra “Dayalu.”
Senior member Dr. Renu Mahendra praised the growth in academic and research activities, while Dr. A.K. Gupta, retired scientist from the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy, stressed methodological rigor. Prof. (Dr.) Dileep Kumar Sonkar underlined the importance of familiarizing students with international standards of research ethics.
Among the proposals approved was Dr. Arshi Khan’s research on “Utility of Individualized Homoeopathic Medicine in the Management of Depression Associated with Hypothyroidism”, under the guidance of *Prof. (Dr.) Vishwajit Gupta, Department of Community Medicine*.

Committee members including *Dr. Lipipushpa Debata, Prof. (Dr.) Neelam Shukla, Dr. Tripti Gupta, social workers G.P. Chaudhary and Sunil Yadav, legal expert R.R. Jaiswar*, and journalist *Amit Yadav* highlighted the need for *transparency, informed consent, and social utility* of medical research.
Other distinguished members such as *Dr. J.P. Singh (retired senior scientist, CCRH), Dr. Ratnesh Kumar (noted homoeopathic physician), Dr. V. Prasad (former Director of Homoeopathy, UP), Dr. Nutan Sharma (PG Coordinator)*, and *Krishna Kumar Tiwari* also shared their insights.
The meeting concluded with *Prof. (Dr.) Vijay Kumar Pushkar*, Member Secretary, expressing gratitude to all participants and reaffirming confidence that the approved research projects would significantly benefit both the *medical fraternity and society at large*.
