New York Mayoral Race: Hindu Community Rallies Behind Andrew Cuomo

Houston/New York – As the race for New York City’s next mayor heats up, members of the Hindu-American community have come out in strong support of former Governor Andrew Cuomo, waving banners and calling for voters to back experienced and inclusive leadership.

Banners reading “Hindus for Cuomo: Unite New York, End Hate” were prominently displayed across key neighborhoods including Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn, drawing public attention to the community’s growing concerns over rising crime, divisive rhetoric, and a perceived lack of effective governance.

Hindu Values of Unity and Peace

Organizers of the campaign emphasized their desire to see a leader in office who upholds Hindu principles of peace, unity, and non-violence. The initiative is aimed at mobilizing support for Cuomo, whom they regard as someone capable of restoring competence and stability in city leadership.

Dr. Rakesh Sridhar, President of the Hindu American PAC of New York, stated, “The current leadership appears inadequate. Governor Cuomo’s leadership experience is not only relevant but critical in addressing the pressing challenges facing New York City today.”

Kusum Vyas, a Houston-based environmental activist and founder of the Green Kumbh Alliance, expressed optimism that the message of unity and inclusion will resonate far beyond New York’s borders. “This is more than a campaign – it’s a call for mindful, inclusive governance,” she said.

Cuomo vs. Mamdani: A Key Primary Battle

The show of support for Cuomo comes amid a high-stakes primary face-off between the three-time New York Governor and Assembly Member Zohran Mamdani, a progressive figure with strong grassroots backing.

Early voting begins Saturday, with the primary election scheduled for June 24. The outcome is being closely watched not just in New York, but nationally, as it could shape the future of Democratic leadership in America’s largest city.

As the banners continue to wave across the city, the message from New York’s Hindu community is clear: they want leadership that not only understands their values but is equipped to lead the city through challenging times.
