New Police Station to Come Up in Itaunja to Strengthen Lucknow’s Security Network

Lucknow: In a move aimed at strengthening policing infrastructure and enhancing public safety, the Lucknow Police Commissionerate is set to establish a new police station in Itaunja, a sub-urban area on the outskirts of Lucknow.

The proposed police station will be located in the Mahigawan area near Bakshi Ka Talab and will become the 53rd police station under the jurisdiction of the commissionerate. Officials said the expansion is part of ongoing efforts to improve law enforcement coverage in rapidly developing peripheral regions.

The initiative builds on earlier administrative reforms undertaken in November 2022, when the commissionerate reorganised its policing zones and brought several adjoining rural police stations under its ambit to ensure better coordination and response.

Swift Operationalisation Planned

The Uttar Pradesh government has granted formal approval for the new police station. Directions have been issued by the state’s Principal Secretary to Police Commissioner S B Shirodkar to expedite all necessary procedures for making the station operational at the earliest.

According to officials, key appointments—including that of a Station House Officer (SHO) and supporting staff—are expected to be completed within the next two to four days, ensuring that the facility begins functioning without delay.

Boost to Suburban Security

The addition of the new police station is expected to significantly improve surveillance, response time, and law enforcement presence in Itaunja and nearby areas, which have seen steady growth in population and development.

Police officials believe that integrating the new station directly under the commissionerate will lead to more efficient policing, better resource allocation, and enhanced safety for residents in Lucknow’s expanding outskirts.
