Lucknow: To address commuting problems caused by the removal of the makeshift pontoon bridge at Gau Ghat due to rising water levels in the Gomti River, a new boat service has been launched for public convenience.
Residents of Old Lucknow had been facing difficulties in reaching Faizullaganj and nearby areas after the pontoon bridge was dismantled. Commuters were forced to take longer detours, causing daily hardships. As a temporary solution, a new boat has been dedicated to the public at Gau Ghat by social workers Ajay Tripathi Munna, Horilal Lodhi, Amar Singh Patel, Dr. Mushtaq, and other local residents.
This facility is expected to provide immediate relief during the monsoon season, ensuring that people can travel between Old Lucknow and Faizullaganj without major inconvenience.

It was also recalled that Union Defence Minister and local MP Rajnath Singh had earlier sanctioned the construction of a permanent bridge at Gau Ghat to replace the pontoon structure. The construction work is already in progress and is expected to be completed by next year, offering a long-term solution for commuters.
At the inauguration of the new boat service, several social workers and community representatives including Ajay Tripathi Munna, Horilal Lodhi, Amar Singh Patel, Ritesh Gupta, Taj Khan, Ramsharan Pathak, Brijesh Shukla, Balwant Chaurasia, and Dr. Mushtaq were present.
