NEET Aspirant Alleges Drugging, Sexual Assault and Abandonment

Lucknow: A 22-year-old NEET aspirant has accused a man of drugging and sexually assaulting her in Lucknow, later marrying her after she became pregnant and subsequently abandoning her and their newborn daughter. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.

The woman, whose identity has been withheld for legal reasons, moved to Lucknow in 2023 to prepare for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET). She was residing in the Gomti Nagar area and attending a coaching institute when she came into contact with the accused, identified in the complaint as Aditya Yadav, who reportedly worked as a cab driver. Their acquaintance is said to have developed into a relationship over time.

According to the FIR, the accused allegedly took her to a hotel room on one occasion, where he is accused of mixing an intoxicating substance into her drink and sexually assaulting her. She later discovered she was pregnant.

The complaint further states that after learning about the pregnancy, the accused proposed marriage and persuaded her to undergo a temple ceremony at the Chandrika Devi Temple in the presence of two of his friends. However, she alleges that she was never introduced to his family.

Following the birth of their daughter, the accused allegedly stayed with her briefly at a rented accommodation before leaving under the pretext of buying medicines. He is said to have switched off his phone and severed contact. When the woman attempted to reach him through his acquaintances, he allegedly refused to accept responsibility for her or the child.
