Need-Based Seminar on Zoonotic Diseases Held at Samarpan Institute, Lucknow

Lucknow: A need-based academic seminar on the theme “Invisible Boundaries, Shared Threats: Zoonotic Diseases Beyond Species Barriers” was successfully organised at Samarpan Institute of Nursing and Paramedical Sciences (SINPS), Lucknow. The seminar was held at the Nirmal Auditorium with the objective of creating awareness among healthcare professionals and students about emerging and re-emerging zoonotic diseases.

The programme began with the traditional lighting of the lamp, followed by a welcome address by Dr. Deepti Shukla, Principal, SINPS, who highlighted the importance of prevention, early detection of zoonotic diseases and the crucial role played by nurses in public health. This was followed by inspirational remarks from Prof. Dr. R. S. Dubey, Chairman, Samarpan Group, who emphasised interdisciplinary education and social responsibility in addressing public health challenges.

The event was graced by Dr. Rashmi P. John, Principal, KGMU College of Nursing, as the Chief Guest. Guests of Honour included Dr. David Sartha Kala Rani, Nursing Superintendent, Apollo Medics Super Speciality Hospital, while Dr. Umesh Pandey, Senior Administrative Officer, and Mr. Manish Mishra, Manager, Samarpan Hospital, were present as special guests.

During the technical sessions, Dr. Rajneesh Chandra, Prof. Dr. Farya Haider and Prof. Dr. Gomathi Munusamy delivered detailed and practical insights on the origin of zoonotic diseases, modes of transmission, preventive strategies and the One Health approach.

Around 480 delegates participated in the seminar, making it a highly engaging and informative academic event. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Neeraj Verma, Principal, SCP. Active participation from faculty members, delegates and students contributed to the overall success of the seminar.
