New Delhi: In a significant show of strength and coordination ahead of upcoming elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday chaired a crucial meeting of NDA Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers in New Delhi. Attended by leaders from 20 states and 18 deputy CMs, the meeting was as much about governance as it was about sending a clear message of unity within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
A Strategic Gathering Post-Operation Sindoor
This high-level meeting comes in the wake of Operation Sindoor, a major security operation that has politically strengthened the BJP in states like Maharashtra, Bihar, and others. The timing of the gathering is seen as strategic, aimed at bolstering NDA’s internal cohesion and projecting a united front ahead of critical state and national elections.
One of the meeting’s core objectives was to display solidarity among alliance partners and highlight the effectiveness of the “double-engine government” model—referring to synchronized governance at the Centre and state levels.

PM Modi Emphasizes Development and Administrative Excellence
In his address, PM Modi praised the efforts of state governments in areas such as water conservation, education, women empowerment, sports, and grievance redressal systems. He underscored the importance of quick and effective implementation of Central schemes across states and stressed the need for sharing best practices among states to strengthen the overall administrative framework.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and BJP President JP Nadda were also present, reiterating the Centre’s commitment to collaborative federalism and development-oriented governance.
Crafting the NDA’s Electoral Strategy
Beyond governance, the meeting had a clear political undertone. Detailed discussions were held on upcoming assembly elections and the roadmap to the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. Sources suggest a key strategy will involve projecting NDA’s governance record, promoting development narratives, and countering opposition alliances with a united front and coordinated messaging.
The leadership emphasized the importance of reaching out to the public with impactful storytelling around NDA’s achievements at both state and national levels.
Governance Models and Inter-State Learning
A significant segment of the meeting focused on how states can collaborate by adopting successful models from each other. Discussions included progress in sanitation, health infrastructure, agriculture, digitization, and technological innovation. The idea is to enhance transparency and efficiency by leveraging the collective experience of NDA-ruled states.
This aligns with PM Modi’s broader vision of a “Team India” approach, where states are partners in nation-building, not just administrative units.
A Message of Preparedness
The meeting concluded on a high note, signaling that the NDA is election-ready, well-coordinated, and focused on both governance and political messaging. With a shared emphasis on good governance and regional cooperation, the alliance aims to consolidate its position in the months ahead.
As India heads into another critical electoral phase, the NDA’s show of strength sends a clear message: unity, development, and delivery remain at the heart of its campaign narrative.
