NBRI Opens Doors to Students on CSIR’s 84th Foundation Day

Lucknow:  In celebration of the 84th Foundation Day of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), the National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI) welcomed students, researchers, and the general public for a day-long visit .

Over 2,000 students from 20 schools and colleges across Lucknow and nearby districts toured the institute’s laboratories, botanical gardens, plant nurseries, and exhibition areas. NBRI scientists and experts enthusiastically guided visitors, explaining the institute’s history, research activities, achievements, and innovative products.

As part of the government’s Special Campaign 5.0 for improved cleanliness and e-waste management, a dedicated awareness program on responsible e-waste disposal was organized for students. The session, conducted by the e-waste startup Kabadiwala.com, included interactive presentations and a street play to promote safe disposal, recycling, and sustainable environmental practices.

The 84th CSIR Foundation Day celebration was officially held on September 29, with Suryapratap Shahi, Cabinet Minister for Agriculture, Education & Research, UP Government, and Prof. R.K. Mittal, Vice-Chancellor of BBAU, Lucknow, attending as chief guests. Employees completing 25 years of service and recent retirees were also honored during the event.
