Navayug School Celebrates Uttar Pradesh Day and Voter Awareness Day

Lucknow: Under the theme “Developed India, Developed Uttar Pradesh,” Navayug Girls’ College, Rajendra Nagar, Lucknow, enthusiastically celebrated Uttar Pradesh Day-2026 and Voter Awareness Day today. The event was presided over by Principal Prof. Manjula Upadhyay and coordinated by NCC Officer Major (Dr.) Manmeet Kaur Sodhi, with active participation from the 19 Uttar Pradesh Girls Battalion NCC Wing.

The celebration highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s contributions to India’s freedom struggle, civilization, culture, literature, arts, music, dance, theatre, sports, and traditional attire. NCC cadets including Bushra Hamid, Lakshika, Khushi Nishad, Janvi Dubey, Preeti Kumari, Alisha, Anjali Bajpai, Garima, Tanya, Priya Tiwari, Khushi Singh, and others performed an impressive theatrical presentation, portraying historical and cultural figures such as Begum Hazrat Mahal, Rani Laxmibai, Mangal Pandey, Chandrashekhar Azad, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, Mahadevi Verma, Kabir Das, Tulsidas, Pt. Birju Maharaj, Govind Ballabh Pant, Amitabh Bachchan, and Anupam Kher. The enactments offered the audience a glimpse of the state’s proud identity and rich heritage.

Major (Dr.) Manmeet Kaur Sodhi, acting as the event’s anchor, emphasized that modern Uttar Pradesh is not only proud of its past but also actively progressing in development, innovation, and self-reliance. She highlighted that the state represents both pride and responsibility for its citizens.

Principal Prof. Manjula Upadhyay extended her greetings on Uttar Pradesh Day and encouraged students to contribute meaningfully to the state’s development and act as responsible citizens.

On the eve of Voter Awareness Day, cadets Under Officer Siddhi Yadav, Kashish Gautam, and Anjali Vajpayee highlighted the importance of voting. The principal administered a pledge to all attendees to uphold democratic traditions and exercise their voting rights fearlessly and responsibly, emphasizing that every vote matters in a democracy.

The program was attended by cadets, non-teaching staff, and college spokespersons from the 19 Uttar Pradesh Girls Battalion. The celebration concluded with the singing of the national anthem and a heartfelt cheer of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai.”
