National Sports Day Celebrated with Felicitation Ceremony at Navayug Kanya Mahavidyalaya

Lucknow: Navayug Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Lucknow celebrated National Sports Day with great enthusiasm and pride. The program commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and floral tributes.

Chief Guest Avneesh Singh, Member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council and President of Uttar Pradesh Kreeda Bharti, encouraged students to actively participate in sports. He remarked, “If you play with passion, you will shine like stars. To reach the top, one must give their best efforts.” He also announced that the college would soon be provided with a kabaddi mat to help students showcase their talent in the sport.

Guest of Honour, Prof. Rachna Srivastava, Principal of A.P. Sen Memorial Degree College, highlighted that sports not only enhance physical and mental health but also foster discipline and self-confidence.

The ceremony was presided over by the Principal of the college, Prof. Manjula Upadhyay, who proudly stated, “Navayug girls are excelling in every field. Through sports, they are setting examples of confidence, leadership, and discipline.”

The Annual Sports Report for 2024–25 showcased remarkable achievements of the students at All India, North Zone, State, District, and University levels. Regular inclusion of Yoga and Martial Arts in campus activities has promoted health awareness, discipline, and self-defense among the students.

Adding cultural flavor, Chhavi Pandey recited an inspiring poem on Major Dhyan Chand, while students impressed the audience with a vibrant pyramid display.

To mark the day, fun-filled sports competitions were also organized for teachers and students, including Tie-Note Contest, Lemon-Spoon Race, Needle-and-Thread Challenge, Partner Balloon Race, and Jalebi Eating Game, which witnessed enthusiastic participation.

The program was successfully anchored by Prof. Seema Pandey, Head of the Department of Physical Education, while the Sports Committee team—Diksha, Jyoti Verma, Mahima Chaudhary, and Aarti Rawat—led the event arrangements.
