Lucknow: National PG College, Lucknow, celebrated International Yoga Day under the leadership of Principal Professor Devendra Kumar Singh. The event was organized by the Department of Physical Education in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS) and the Rover Ranger units of the college. This year’s Yoga Day was observed with the global theme “One Earth, One Health”, emphasizing the interconnectedness of planetary and individual well-being.
The yoga session was conducted by trained instructor Shri Ved Prakash from Prayag Arogya Kendra, who guided participants through various yoga postures and techniques including Tadasana, Ardha Chakrasana, Trikonasana, Bhujangasana, Vakrasana, Padmasana, Sarvangasana, Bhramari, Shavasana, Anulom Vilom, and Surya Namaskar. The session focused on building physical strength, improving flexibility, and promoting mental clarity.
Addressing the participants, Principal Prof. Devendra Kumar Singh highlighted the growing need for yoga in today’s fast-paced world. He emphasized that yoga is not only essential for maintaining physical health but also for achieving mental peace. He urged everyone to incorporate yoga into their daily lives and to encourage family members to practice regularly. “Regular yoga practice helps keep the body disease-free and the mind at peace,” he said.
The National Service Scheme volunteers contributed by creating posters expressing their dedication and spreading awareness about the benefits of yoga. Their artwork reflected the spirit of commitment towards a healthier and balanced life.
Additionally, on June 20, 2025, a special yoga training session focused on women’s empowerment and health was conducted by Padmini Singh, President of the Laghu Udyog Seva Bharti (Avadh) Murli Seva Sansthan. This session specifically aimed at promoting well-being among women through yoga.
The celebrations saw enthusiastic participation from all sections of the college community, including Professor Rakesh Pathak, Head of the Department of Physical Education; Professor P.K. Singh, NSS Programme Officer; Dr. Archana Singh; Dr. Pranati Mishra; Dr. Reena Srivastava, Rover Ranger In-charge; along with other faculty members, non-teaching staff, and students.
The observance of International Yoga Day at National PG College served not just as a celebration, but as a call to adopt yoga as a daily practice for holistic health and inner harmony.
