National P.G. College Hosts Annual Athletics Meet and Financial Literacy Workshop; Theatre Fest 2025 to Begin

Lucknow: The 21st Annual Athletics Meet of National P.G. College, Lucknow, an associated college of the University of Lucknow, was successfully held at the college sports ground on Thursday. Despite intermittent rain, around 600 students enthusiastically participated and showcased remarkable sporting spirit.

The event was graced by Chief Guest  Rachna Govil, former Executive Director of the Sports Authority of India, international athlete (Athletics and Shooting), and Arjuna Awardee. The program was presided over by Principal Prof. Devendra Kumar Singh, with Rajesh Sind, General Secretary of Motilal Memorial Society, Lucknow, as the Guest of Honour.

Among the outstanding performers, Vimansha Tripathi and Karan Singh (both first-year undergraduate students) won gold medals in the 100m, 200m, and 400m races, as well as in the 4x100m and 4x400m relay events. Various throwing and jumping events such as shot put, javelin throw, discus throw, long jump, and high jump were also organized. Winners were felicitated with medals and certificates. The event was coordinated by Prof. Rakesh Pathak, Organizing Secretary, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries and congratulated the winners.

In another major event, the Department of Management Studies, in collaboration with Rotary Club Lucknow West, organized a Workshop on “Money Management Skills” on October 30. The session was held under the guidance of retired Assistant Commissioner Mr. Tarkeshwar Prasad Gaur and supported by Rotarian Shailendra Jain (Past District Governor, District 3120) and Rotarian R.K. Pandey, Principal, Bal Vidya Mandir.

Encouraged by Principal Prof. Devendra Kumar Singh, the workshop aimed to enhance students’ financial literacy and practical understanding of personal finance. Participants gained insights into budgeting, investment planning, savings discipline, taxation, and responsible financial decision-making. Speakers emphasized the importance of financial discipline from a young age and shared strategies for achieving long-term financial stability. The event concluded with an interactive discussion and a vote of thanks.

Meanwhile, the Department of English’s Theatre Society, “Proscenium,” is all set to host the Theatre Fest 2025 on October 31 (Friday) from 12:00 noon onwards at the National P.G. College campus. The cultural celebration will feature a series of stage plays, musical performances, and creative art displays.

The college administration extended a warm invitation to media and guests to attend and enhance the grandeur of the festival.
