The National Association for the Blind (NAB), Uttar Pradesh State Branch, in collaboration with the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Government of Uttar Pradesh, organized a two-day National Conference on “Promoting Inclusion & Equity for Children with Special Needs” on February 14-15, 2025, at CII, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow.
The first day of the conference, February 14, concluded successfully with significant discussions and initiatives aimed at promoting inclusion. Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Brijesh Pathak, addressed the inaugural session, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity. In his keynote speech, he stated:
“Inclusion is not just a policy; it is a mindset. We must work together to ensure that every child, regardless of their abilities, has access to education, healthcare, and equal opportunities to succeed.”
One of the key highlights of the first day was the distribution of SmartOn Glasses to 38 visually impaired students, an advanced assistive technology initiative designed to empower them. Additionally, the prestigious “Navodaya Samman” award, along with a cash prize of ₹21,000, was presented to Prof. Musheer Ahmed of KMCL University for his outstanding contributions to disability empowerment and inclusive education by NAB, Uttar Pradesh State Branch.
