“MY GOAL IS TO WIN TROPHIES AND GIVE EVERYTHING FOR THE BADGE”: RAYAN AÏT-NOURI ON JOINING MANCHESTER CITY

The Algerian left-back opens up about his ambitions, admiration for Pep Guardiola, and stepping into a new era at the Etihad

Manchester |  As the 2025-26 Premier League season approaches, Manchester City’s newest signing, Rayan Aït-Nouri, has opened up about his ambitions, mindset, and eagerness to make an impact at one of the most dominant clubs in world football. In an exclusive interaction with JioHotstar, the 24-year-old left-back reflected on his journey, playing style, and desire to grow under Pep Guardiola’s mentorship.

“This is a dream come true”

Aït-Nouri, who previously played for Wolverhampton Wanderers, couldn’t contain his pride about joining the reigning English champions.

“To be honest, I’m very happy and proud. Playing for a club like Manchester City was one of my dreams growing up. I’m eager to wear this shirt and give my best. My family is proud — today is a very special day for us.”

A move that made perfect sense

When asked about his decision, the Algerian international called it a “no-brainer.”

“It was an easy decision. The team proved last season they’re the best in the world. The players, the coaching staff, the environment — it’s everything a player wants. Training under Pep Guardiola is an honour. I’m here to learn and to give everything.”

A modern full-back with technical finesse

Describing his footballing identity, Aït-Nouri said:

“I’m a technical player. I like to express myself with the ball — whether it’s attacking, crossing, or defending. But beyond that, I always put the team first. I love working hard on and off the ball.”

Premier League experience — an asset

Having already played multiple seasons with Wolves, Aït-Nouri feels well-prepared for the expectations at City.

“Being in the Premier League already helps. I know the tempo, the intensity, the pressure. But of course, playing at City is a big step. I’m ready to embrace the challenge.”

Learning from the best: Guardiola and elite teammates

One of the biggest factors in his decision was the chance to learn from Pep Guardiola, widely regarded as one of football’s greatest tacticians.

“I’m very excited to work with him. He has changed modern football. I want to grow under his guidance and understand the game even better. And to train alongside this squad — it’s a blessing.”

Advice from familiar faces

Aït-Nouri revealed that conversations with Matheus Nunes and Riyad Mahrez helped him prepare mentally for the move.

“Matheus spoke about the club’s culture and professionalism. And Riyad, being a national teammate, encouraged me to give my all. He said, ‘This is the biggest club in the world — work hard, and you’ll succeed.’”

Eyes set on growth and silverware

Despite his young age, Aït-Nouri is focused and goal-driven.

“I know I have a lot to improve. That’s why I’m here. At City, the standards are high — and that’s exactly what I want. I’ve come here to win trophies and to grow as a player and as a person.”

In closing, he made his mission at Manchester City crystal clear:

“My goal is to win many trophies and give everything for the badge. I want to enjoy football, grow with this team, and make the fans proud.”

Welcome to City, Rayan!

With energy, youth, and ambition on his side, Aït-Nouri looks set to write a promising new chapter in Manchester City’s ever-evolving story of excellence.
