Mumbai – Mumbai police were thrown into high alert after receiving a chilling threat claiming that 14 Pakistani terrorists had entered the city with 400 kilograms of RDX explosives planted across 34 vehicles. The message, sent to the Mumbai Traffic Police WhatsApp helpline, warned that the entire city could be devastated by the planned blasts, putting over 10 million lives at risk.
The threat reportedly mentioned the extremist group “Lashkar-e-Jihadi” and demanded attention through the intimidation message. Mumbai police are treating the alert with utmost seriousness and have launched a full-scale investigation. A senior police official said that tracing the origin of the WhatsApp message is underway. Authorities assured residents that the situation is under control and there is no need for panic.
The warning comes at a sensitive time as Mumbai prepares for the grand 10-day Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. With the final day approaching, millions are expected on the streets, prompting the police to intensify security arrangements, conduct extensive search operations, and keep a vigilant watch on all major locations. Citizens have been urged to remain calm, ignore rumors, and report any suspicious activity immediately.

This is not the first security alert Mumbai has received in recent weeks. On August 22, the ISKCON Temple in Girgaon received a threatening email, prompting bomb disposal squads to thoroughly search the premises, though no suspicious items were found. Previously, a similar threat had been sent to the Four Seasons Hotel in Worli, targeting VIP rooms with claims of RDX and IED placement.
Authorities emphasized that preventive measures are being heightened across the city to ensure public safety during the festival period.
