Lucknow | CSIR-Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CSIR-CIMAP), Lucknow inaugurated a three-day training programme for girl students of Rani Laxmi Bai College, Hisar, Haryana along with hosting multiple academic and tribal women/farmers exposure visits at the Institute campus.
The three-day training programme is designed to provide scientific knowledge and practical exposure on medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs), covering improved cultivation practices, processing technologies, value addition, and entrepreneurship development under CSIR Aroma Mission.
On the same day, a group of 51 tribal women from Dindori dist., Madhya Pradesh visited CSIR-CIMAP for an exposure programme. The participants were given live demonstrations on:
* Cutlery making from distilled floral waste
* Essential oil distillation process
* Vermicomposting techniques
* Field visits to MAP cultivation plots
* Visit to MANAV Park (Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Demonstration Area)
Simultaneously, 31 students from Lucknow Pharmacy College and more than 100 agricultural students from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Coimbatore also visited the Institute. The students interacted with scientists and gained hands-on experience in advanced technologies related to medicinal and aromatic plants, post-harvest management, and industrial applications.

During the interaction session, Dr. Sanjay Kumar highlighted various ongoing activities under the CSIR Aroma Mission and emphasized its importance in nation-building through farmer empowerment, rural entrepreneurship creation, and strengthening the agro-based economy.
Dr. R. K. Srivastava addressed the gathering on post-harvest utilization of medicinal and aromatic plants for a business and startup perspective, elaborating on value addition, market linkages, and industrial opportunities.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. R. S. Sharma. The entire programme was smoothly coordinated and managed by Dr. Rushikesh N. Bhise and Dr. Mahesh M. Kadam ensuring effective conduct of all academic and outreach activities.
The events collectively reaffirmed CSIR-CIMAP’s commitment toward student engagement, women and tribal empowerment, and large-scale dissemination of scientific technologies under its national outreach initiatives.
