Lucknow: A mother-son duo, active members of a pickpocket gang, has been arrested by the Madeganj police in Lucknow. The accused, Farzana Begum alias Kajal Sheikh and her son Aslam, both residents of Delhi, were apprehended while operating from a rented house in the Nishatganj area.
DCP Central Raveena Tyagi disclosed the arrests in a press conference, revealing that the two were involved in several pickpocketing incidents, particularly targeting crowded areas under the guise of exchanging foreign currency.

- ₹20,250 in cash
- 200 Dirhams
- A scooty
- A mobile phone
The duo’s modus operandi included luring victims by offering currency exchange deals and then pickpocketing them in the process. Their arrest marks a significant breakthrough in curbing such crimes in the city.
The police are further investigating to ascertain the involvement of other gang members or related activities.
