Lucknow: Demonstrating swift and effective policing, Mohanalalganj Police have solved a major vehicle theft case within 24 hours, arresting a notorious accused and recovering stolen property including a DCM vehicle, batteries and stepneys.
The action was carried out under the directives of Police Commissioner Lucknow, Amrendra Singh Sengar, as part of the ongoing campaign against crime. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Nipun Agarwal, with guidance from Additional DCP Rallapalli Basanth Kumar and Assistant Commissioner of Police Mohanalalganj Vikas Kumar Pandey. The successful breakthrough was achieved by a team led by Inspector-in-Charge Mohanalalganj, Brajesh Kumar Tripathi.
Incident Details
According to police, on December 22, 2025, complainant Sanjay Singh Yadav, a resident of Shanti Nagar under Sarojini Nagar police station, reported that several vehicles belonging to his firm, Vikram Transport Company, were parked outside the company office at Jaitikheda. At around 1 am, unidentified thieves stole a DCM vehicle (UP 32 YH 8964) along with batteries and stepneys from other parked vehicles.
Based on the complaint, FIR No. 516/25 under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at Mohanalalganj police station.
Police Action
Considering the seriousness of the crime, two special police teams were constituted. After scanning over 100 CCTV footages and analysing technical evidence, the accused was identified. On December 23, 2025, police laid a barricade on the road from Ganiyar towards Mohanalalganj and arrested the accused Shailendra Kumar.

Disclosure During Interrogation
During questioning, the arrested accused revealed that his associate Raj, a former driver with Vikram Transport Company, had provided information about vehicle locations and security arrangements. The duo planned the theft together. However, the stolen DCM ran out of diesel and stopped midway, enabling the police to apprehend the accused. Efforts are underway to trace and arrest the absconding co-accused.
