Mock Drill to Be Conducted Across Border States from Kashmir to Gujarat Amid Heightened Security Alert

New Delhi: In the wake of Operation Sindoor and the heightened security alert in India’s border regions, the government has announced a new round of mock drills to be conducted along the Pakistan border. The mock drills are scheduled soon and will cover the sensitive border states of Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat.

High Alert Along 3,300-km Border with Pakistan

India shares a 3,300-kilometre-long border with Pakistan, making the stretch vulnerable to cross-border threats. The upcoming drill aims to assess India’s preparedness to handle possible terror attacks, hostage crises, and other national security emergencies. Authorities have urged residents in border areas to stay alert during the exercise.

Focus on Strategic Preparedness

The mock drill is expected to simulate various high-risk scenarios, including terror infiltration, missile strikes, and drone attacks. Special forces, anti-terror units, and commandos equipped with advanced weaponry will participate in the drill. The strategy also includes testing evacuation plans, communication protocols, and rapid response mechanisms to threats in real-time.

This comes shortly after India carried out Operation Sindoor, a retaliatory strike in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir. During Operation Sindoor, Indian forces reportedly destroyed nine terror camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Pakistan’s Missile Response and Ceasefire Agreement

Following India’s counterstrike, Pakistan reportedly launched missile and drone attacks targeting several Indian regions including Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. The Indian Air Defence successfully neutralized the aerial threats, but not before air raid sirens and blackouts were triggered across affected districts.

In response, high-level military talks were held between the two nations, leading to a temporary ceasefire declaration initiated by Pakistan. Despite the ceasefire, security agencies in India remain cautious, prompting this latest series of mock drills.

Pakistan Acknowledges Indian Strike at Noor Khan Airbase

In a rare admission, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif acknowledged India’s missile strike on the Noor Khan Airbase, confirming the incident during a speech at a public event titled “Yaum-e-Tashakur” (Day of Gratitude). Sharif stated that around 2:30 AM on the night of May 9-10, he received a call from the army chief informing him of the missile strikes by India, one of which hit the Noor Khan Airbase while others landed in various locations.

A Message of Vigilance

With the geopolitical tension still simmering under the surface, India’s upcoming mock drills are a strong message of military preparedness and public safety. The government aims to demonstrate that, despite diplomatic overtures, the nation remains fully prepared for any potential security challenges along its western front.
