MJPRU Launches Advanced Agricultural Studies: Students Learn Career-Building Mantras

Bareilly — A new chapter has been added to the history of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University (MJPRU), Bareilly. For the first time, the university has established a Faculty of Agricultural Science and Technology, under which it has now commenced B.Sc. (Honours) Agriculture and M.Sc. Agriculture in three subjects. This initiative is set to open new doors for agricultural education and research for the youth of the region.

The faculty organized a seven-day ‘Diksharambh’ orientation program for students, aimed at familiarizing them with the university’s academic and research activities. On the final day, a special interactive session was held in collaboration with the Directorate of International Relations (DIR).

The chief guest for the event was Prof. Gajendra Singh, former Deputy Director General (Engineering) of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi, and former Vice-Chancellor of Doon University, Dehradun. He was welcomed by Prof. Upendra Kumar, Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Science and Technology.

Addressing the students, Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.P. Singh urged them to make full use of the university’s facilities and aim to become scientists and entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector. He said, “Our students should not be job seekers, but job creators, so that they can contribute to the building of a developed India.”

During the interactive session, Prof. Gajendra Singh provided students with detailed information on career opportunities in agriculture, both in India and abroad. He emphasized that agricultural science is a field that offers not only employment but also immense opportunities for entrepreneurship and research. The students actively asked questions, which he patiently answered, inspiring them to move forward with confidence.

Prof. S.S. Bedi presented a brief overview of the university’s academic achievements and highlighted the role of the DIR, which acts as a bridge for students and faculty to access international opportunities in education, research, and collaboration.

The program was jointly organized by the Faculty of Agricultural Science and Technology and the Directorate of International Relations (DIR) in the conference room of the university’s Rohilkhand Incubation Foundation (RIF).

The event was attended by Prof. Upendra Kumar, Prof. S.S. Bedi, Prof. Alok Srivastava, Prof. Sanjay Garg, Prof. J.N. Maurya, other faculty members, researchers, and a large number of students. The session was conducted by Dr. Atul Katyar, and the vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Priti Yadav.
