Mission Shakti 5.0: “Empowered Women, A Safer Society” – Awareness Drive in Bijnor, Lucknow

Lucknow: Under the Mission Shakti 5.0 initiative, a Gram Chaupal was organized at the Panchayat Bhawan in Mati, Bijnor, aimed at creating awareness among women and children about safety, empowerment, and legal rights.

Mission Shakti 5.0, a pioneering campaign under the guidance of Lucknow Police Commissioner Mr. Amrendra Kumar Sengar, focuses on women’s empowerment and building a secure and respectful society. Across Lucknow district, Mission Shakti Centres have been established in 54 police stations, each staffed with an Inspector, Additional Inspector, Sub-Inspector, and Women Sub-Inspector to ensure prompt resolution of women’s grievances.

  • Organized by Sheela Devi Anganwadi at Panchayat Bhawan, Mati, Bijnor.
  • Key participants included Women Sub-Inspectors Soumya Mishra and Aradhana Verma, Sub-Inspector Ramraj Singh, Women Constables Chinki and Pallavi Shukla, and other female beat officers and anti-crime team members.

Event Overview:
The Chaupal saw participation from approximately 60–80 women and children from the village. The program highlighted the importance of women’s safety, empowerment, and legal literacy. Attendees were educated about behaviors and actions that fall under criminal offenses, and were made aware of ongoing issues regarding crimes against women.

Key Awareness Initiatives:

  • Legal Awareness: Women were informed about their rights, legal boundaries, and measures to handle offenses like harassment and abuse. Specific focus was given to POCSO Act provisions and laws related to women’s protection.
  • Cybersecurity and Online Safety: Participants were advised on online fraud prevention, including not sharing OTPs and taking precautions during online payments.
  • Helpline and Support Services: Information was provided on helpline numbers 1076, 1090, 112, 181, 1930, 102, 108, and the functioning of Women Safety Centres, Women Help Desks, and Mission Shakti Centres, enabling women to access prompt support when required.
  • Child Protection: Awareness was also raised about Good Touch–Bad Touch, emphasizing safety for children.

The initiative reinforced the message that an empowered woman is the foundation of a safe society, and aimed to equip women with knowledge and resources to respond effectively to threats, both offline and online.

This Gram Chaupal marks a significant step in Mission Shakti 5.0, strengthening community engagement and ensuring that women and children are aware of their rights, safety measures, and support systems available at the police station level.
