Lucknow: As part of the ongoing Mission Shakti 5.0 campaign, the Lucknow Police Commissionerate carried out an extensive awareness programme in Gram Panchayat Haroni under the jurisdiction of Banthra Police Station.

The initiative focused on educating women and young girls about safety measures, legal rights, government welfare schemes, and cyber security. The programme was conducted under the direction of Police Commissioner Amrendra Kumar Sengar, who has been spearheading efforts to strengthen women’s safety across the district.

Police officials highlighted that Mission Shakti centres have already been established in 54 police stations across Lucknow, with dedicated staff to ensure prompt redressal of complaints related to women.

The awareness session was led by Sub-Inspector Gulab Kali, along with Sub-Inspector Ramesh Chandra and Woman Constable Moni Yadav. They were joined by Woman Sub-Inspector Neha Yadav during the programme.

During the session, participants were informed about important helpline numbers including 1090 (Women Power Line), 112 (emergency services), 181 (women helpline), 1930 (cyber fraud helpline), 108 and 102 (medical emergency), and 1098 (Childline). The team also introduced attendees to the UP COP App and explained its features such as emergency assistance, complaint registration, and location sharing.

Special emphasis was laid on cyber safety, with officers advising women to avoid sharing OTPs or personal information with unknown individuals and to remain cautious during online transactions. Awareness was also spread about Good Touch–Bad Touch, the POCSO Act, and legal provisions related to crimes against women.

Officials further informed participants about the services available at Women Help Desks, Mission Shakti Centres, and police stations, encouraging them to seek assistance without hesitation in case of distress.

The programme aimed to enhance legal awareness, promote digital safety, and empower women to take informed decisions regarding their security and well-being. It also sought to strengthen community participation and build trust between the police and the public.

The initiative was well received by local residents and marked another step towards creating a safer, more aware, and empowered society under Mission Shakti 5.0.
