Lucknow: Electricity theft is happening on a large scale in Uttar Pradesh, which is causing heavy loss of revenue and also disruption in quality electricity supply. This should be stopped immediately and in those areas and feeders where there is a possibility of more electricity theft and complaints are coming or there is more electricity load and line loss, vigilance action should be taken against those who steal electricity by running intensive checking campaigns.
In any case, organized electricity theft has to be stopped. Efforts to recover dues from big defaulters should be intensified. Consumers should not face problems due to the working style of any electricity personnel. Work with full dedication and honesty in resolving electricity disruptions. Urban Development and Energy Minister AK Sharma gave strict instructions to electricity officials.
Energy Minister AK Sharma reviewed the electricity system and supply in Shakti Bhawan. During this, he instructed the electricity personnel of all Discoms to meet the public representatives for quick resolution of electricity problems and disruptions at the local level and try to resolve the electricity problems. Take the issues raised by them seriously. To ensure that all consumers get electricity connection on time, ensure availability of meters and converters in sufficient quantity in all Discoms, so that there is no delay in providing electricity connection anywhere due to its shortage.
The Energy Minister has directed all the transferred officers and personnel of the department to join their place of posting soon. He said that there should be no excuse to stop the transferred personnel at the Chief Engineer or Superintending Engineer level. No one has been stopped from the headquarters, such a situation will not be tolerated at all. To ensure that consumers get better electricity supply in the coming summer season and they do not have to face problems, a campaign should be run for maintenance work and capacity enhancement from October 14, 2024. Get the power disruption due to heavy rains and storms in the rainy season resolved quickly. Inform people in advance about the shutdown taken for electrical work, so that people do not complain.
Taking seriously the complaint of power supply being disrupted for two days due to rain in Firozabad, the Energy Minister directed to send a team from the headquarters for on-site inspection. He said that permanent solutions should be found so that electricity is not disrupted due to rain. Similarly, MD Madhyanchal was instructed to find a permanent solution to the power supply disrupted due to fault in 33 KV in Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Lakhimpur Kheri. He directed to complete the targets of PM Surya Ghar Yojana all Discoms and zone wise.
Chairman UPPCL Dr. Ashish Kumar Goyal, MD Production and Transmission, MD UPPCL were present in the meeting and MD Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers and Sub-Divisional Officers of all Discoms participated virtually.
