Lucknow: The MBBS Batch of 2000 of King George’s Medical University (KGMU) on Saturday celebrated its Silver Jubilee, marking 25 years since admission, with a grand event at the Brown Hall of the university. The event brought together doctors from across Uttar Pradesh, different parts of India, and several from overseas, making it a memorable reunion of camaraderie and shared memories.

The event was presided over by KGMU Vice Chancellor Professor Sonia Nityanand, who attended as the Chief Guest. Renowned academician Dr U.S. Pandey graced the occasion as the Special Guest of Honour. Several senior faculty members—both serving and retired—were also present, including Dr K.K. Singh, Dr A.M. Kar, Dr Ashok Chandra, Dr G.K. Singh, Dr P.K. Sharma, among others.

Addressing the gathering, Professor Sonia Nityanand congratulated the alumni on completing 25 years in the medical profession and praised their contribution to healthcare services in India and abroad. She highlighted the importance of alumni engagement in strengthening the academic and clinical ecosystem of the university and encouraged the batch to remain actively connected with their alma mater.

More than 150 batchmates attended the celebration from various districts of Uttar Pradesh and other states across the country, while over a dozen alumni travelled from outside India to be part of the milestone event. The reunion reflected the diverse professional journeys of the batch, with members serving as clinicians, academicians, administrators, and healthcare leaders worldwide.

The Silver Jubilee celebrations are being organised as a three-day affair, featuring a mix of cultural programmes, sports activities, and entertainment events. While the academic and formal sessions are being held on the KGMU campus, the social and cultural evenings are scheduled at Hotel Clarks Awadh, adding grandeur to the celebrations.

The event not only celebrated professional achievements but also rekindled friendships and memories formed during student life at KGMU, reaffirming the enduring bond between the institution and its alumni.
