Mayor’s Files Vanish from Property Department

Lucknow – Lucknow Mayor Sushma Kharakwal has expressed serious concerns after several official letters sent from her office to the Property Department reportedly went missing. The revelation came during a crucial review meeting of the department held at the Municipal Corporation headquarters yesterday.

During the meeting, chaired by Mayor Kharakwal, a detailed review of the Property Department’s functioning was undertaken. Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar, Additional Municipal Commissioner Namrata Singh, Property In-charge Sanjay Yadav, along with all departmental clerks (lekhpals), नायब tehsildars, and other officials were present.

The Mayor issued strict directives, emphasizing that the Municipal Corporation was suffering losses in several cases due to the department’s negligence, which she stated would not be tolerated. She instructed all lekhpals to immediately submit an updated list of all pending court cases. Additionally, a date-wise list of all cases related to other acts was also requested.

Mayor Kharakwal highlighted her dismay over the disappearance of numerous letters dispatched from her office to the Property Department, noting that they never reached the concerned lekhpals. She issued strict orders to officials to locate these missing letters and ensure that no such incidents occur in the future. She made it clear that the department is obligated to provide a written response within a stipulated timeframe for all letters sent from her office.

Furthermore, the Mayor has also demanded a comprehensive report on the status of all complaint letters sent to the Municipal Corporation or the Property Department by MPs, MLCs, MLAs, and corporators over the past two years. She stressed that resolving grievances from public representatives should be a top priority.
