Mayawati reinstates Akash Anand as successor

Lucknow: Mayawati, the national president of the Bahujan Samaj Party in Uttar Pradesh, held an important meeting to review the party’s crushing defeat in the Lok Sabha elections. During this, Akash Anand was seen taking blessings by touching the feet of the BSP supremo.

Shortly after this, the announcement of Akash Anand’s return to BSP was made. Along with this, Mayawati again made Akash Anand her successor.

Not only this, Akash Anand has also been given the post of National Coordinator. Sources said that preparations for the re-launching of nephew Akash Anand were already underway. Mayawati had indicated this even before the review meeting. On Saturday, Mayawati made nephew Akash Anand a star campaigner for the assembly by-elections to be held in Punjab and Uttarakhand. BSP leader Akash Anand has got the second place in the list of star campaigners.

BSP supremo Mayawati had made him the second star campaigner in the list of 20 star campaigners released for the Lok Sabha elections. A few months before being made a star campaigner, Mayawati declared him her successor. Akash Anand’s maximum meetings were also held in UP in the Lok Sabha elections, but after an FIR was lodged against him after the controversial statement given by him during the Sitapur election meeting, Mayawati banned all the programs of Akash.

Not only this, along with removing him from the post of National Coordinator in May, he was also relieved of the responsibility of his successor.

Mayawati may have relieved Akash from the posts, but the speeches given by him during the Lok Sabha elections created a large following within the cadre. Most of the officials who met Mayawati during the review meetings of the defeat in the Lok Sabha elections had expressed their desire for Akash’s return.

After this, it was believed that Akash would soon be seen in active politics and campaign for the party.  Mayawati has announced Akash’s return in the meeting.
