Mayawati Calls for Smooth Functioning of Parliament to Address Public Interest Issues

Lucknow | Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national president Mayawati  stressed the need for the smooth and uninterrupted functioning of Parliament to ensure meaningful discussions on issues of public interest. Her remarks came as the Winter Session of Parliament commenced.

In a post on X, Mayawati noted that, as with previous sessions, the Winter Session is also expected to witness political uproar. However, she emphasized that the BSP wants both Houses of Parliament to run in an orderly and peaceful manner so that the nation’s pressing concerns can be addressed effectively.

Highlighting key issues requiring urgent attention, she said that the severe air pollution crisis in Delhi and surrounding regions must be taken up meaningfully in Parliament. She also pointed to the widespread inconvenience caused during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list, noting that practical difficulties and objections raised by citizens need serious deliberation and timely solutions.

“Only blame games will not work,” Mayawati wrote. “To protect and uphold national and public interest, both the ruling party and the Opposition must rise above political motives and act with full sensitivity and seriousness to ensure the smooth functioning of Parliament.”

Mayawati’s statement underscores the importance of parliamentary debate at a time when several critical issues demand collective political will and responsible dialogue.
