Martyrs’ Day Celebrations to Commemorate the Brave Hearts

Lucknow: A seven-day Shaheed Utsav, “Rang De Basanti,” will be organized from March 23 to 29 to pay tribute to Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev. The event aims to create awareness about their sacrifices among the youth.

The festival will begin on March 23 at Sheroes Cafe in Lucknow, where artists will paint portraits of the martyrs on canvas. Musical performances by bands like “Ziddi Dhun” and singers like Kulatar will pay tribute to the martyrs through their songs. An exhibition, “Zara Yaad Karo Qurbani,” will showcase the lives and struggles of the freedom fighters.

The festival will then move to various colleges in Lucknow, featuring panel discussions, stage plays, dance dramas, and competitions to raise awareness about the martyrs. On March 27, a play based on Bhagat Singh’s life will be staged by Mother Seva Sansthan.

This year marks the centenary year of the Kakori Conspiracy, executed by Pandit Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaqulla Khan, and Thakur Roshan Singh, among others.

The festival’s uniqueness lies in its decentralized approach, allowing the message of the martyrs to reach a wider audience. The organizers aim to focus on simplicity and direct communication, rather than grandeur.

The event is being organized by Dastak, Udaan, Mother Seva Sansthan, and the Cultural Department of Uttar Pradesh, in association with various educational institutions and cultural organizations.
