Malviya Udyan Opens in Honor of Pandit Malviya

Lucknow –  Lucknow University marked the birth anniversaries of two of India’s most distinguished leaders, Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya and  Atal Bihari Vajpayee, with great enthusiasm and reverence.

The celebrations began at the Malaviya Sabhagar, where the  Vice-Chancellor, Professor Alok Kumar Rai, paid floral tributes to a portrait of the Bharat Ratna, Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya, a prominent freedom fighter and educationist. Following this, the Vice-Chancellor inaugurated the newly renovated Malviya Udyan, a garden dedicated to the memory of this illustrious leader.

Later, at the Atal Governance Chair in the Department of Public Administration, a statue of Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee was also unveiled to commemorate the centenary year of the former Prime Minister. On this inspirational occasion, the Vice-Chancellor was accompanied by the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Professor Manuka Khanna, along with other university officials and faculty members.

The celebrations continued with a special initiative at the Kailash Hostel, where the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor inaugurated a deep boring tube well, ensuring a sustainable water supply for the next 25 years for the hostel’s residents. This thoughtful gift from the Vice-Chancellor will significantly improve the water availability for the female students living at the hostel. Professor Rai also visited various water tanks within the hostel to assess their functioning and ensure proper water distribution.

International students residing at the hostel had the opportunity to meet the Vice-Chancellor, take photographs, and share their experiences. The international students, including those from neighboring countries like Nigeria, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, were also involved in the preparations for celebrating Christmas, showcasing a diverse and vibrant cultural exchange.

This event not only celebrated the remarkable legacies of Malviya and Vajpayee but also highlighted the university’s ongoing commitment to student welfare and international cooperation.
